Please join us at the first Cobb Mt. Forest Summit on June 7. This will be the formal kickoff of SSCRA's 2-year project to create a new Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) for the Cobb Mountain Area. We plan to take the CWPP format to a new level, beyond identifying "fuel management" projects (although we will address those too), by taking a deep dive into the economic and cultural aspects of becoming a fully "fire-adapted" community. PLEASE REGISTER AS SPACE IS LIMITED! Details in the poster below.

SSCRA gives an Earth Day Presentation at Mandala Springs Wellness Center

On April 26, in celebration of Earth Day this year, Eliot gave a presentation bringing together themes of "Prior Unity", "Complex Adaptive Systems", and "The Polycrisis" to explore how SSCRA's hyperlocal community weaving work is exploring new ways to address the challenges we all are facing globally. You can watch the 26-minute presentation here.
As part of the serendipity of the day, the other major presenter at Mandala was Heidi Kuhn, a global Peace pioneer, working worldwide to eliminate land mines from war zones. For this Earth Day, Heidi was introducing her "pose with a rose" campaign to promote her "Roots of Peace: Mines to Vines" project, which removes land mines from under the skin of Mother Earth and plants fruit vines and trees, taking pictures of supporters with a white rose. Turns out that Heidi is also a friend of our local congressman, Mike Thompson (who received a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War after being wounded by a land mine), who Eliot and Magdalena were scheduled to see the next day at his annual Lake County event. During the event, Mr Thompson called out SSCRA and called all the vets in the room to gather with us for a "pose with a rose" photo. Sweet!
